Operation Change, Let The Children Come “ is a mission minded organization that collaborates with Zliferadionetworkllc charities and is geared to reach children across the world. We are presently focusing on the island of Jamaica where the program assisted fifty children ages ranging from five to seventeen years old along with their parents during the covid 19 pandemic in the parish of Clarendon. After 3 days of empowerment with the children all fifty of them were handed tablets, book bags and books to assist with their Online classes and study. This program will continue to aid and assist these children in their educational journey over a five year period.
The CEO of the organization Bishop Owen Z Martin firmly believes that change for any nation must begin with training and development of the children. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. ‘ (Prov. 22:6.) They are the light of our nations.
OCLTCC has been planting seeds from Sierra Leone west Africa to the Caribbean since it’s inception over twelve years ago through charitable giving and support from the common people. Driven by our mantra, “Let The Children Come”, we believe that the children are our future.
Just before the covid 19 pandemic swept across the world in 2019, Pastor Owen interfaced two little girls ages thirteen and eleven while visiting in Jamaica , both were selling candy in the streets of May Pen Clarendon.
The outcome was a life changing experience for the family when OCLTCC intervened by taking the girls from off the streets and supporting the family of eleven. The father was given the tools to work and support his family. The girls are now in high school and doing well.
During the week of August 18th through 22nd 2022 we registered eighty children ( thirty more on the previous fifty ) from Savannah district in Hayes Clarendon was catered to and empowered to face their future with confidence and enthusiasm.
The program included empowerment sessions , talent search, personal development and self care, prayers and much more. Parents were asked to submit their child’s report card and Some were awarded with laptops and iPads because of their achievements during their academic school year.
We culminated our events on Monday August 22nd with a bus ride into Kingston taking the children and some parents on a field trip to see Port Royal, UWI ,Utech and Devon house with our final stop at Hope Gardens.
Nations are changed by educating our children and arming them with the tools to become responsible citizens. The world will then become a much better and safe place for them to live in.
Here’s a poetic quotation that we believe and try to implement within the foundation.
There shall come a time
When these children in rags
Who litter the streets
Who know the crushing mastery of poverty
And the curses of dirt and slovenliness
Shall walk with heads erect
Proud owners of a new world
Masters of themselves
Admitting no inequality
Feeling no inferiority
Only a great humility and wonder
For the destiny that shall be theirs.
— Jamaican poet H.D. Carberry
